Philosopher Antonio Aguilera, sociologist Esperança Bielsa and translator Fruela Fernández discuss the role of translation in Walter Benjamin's work following the publication of Benjamin and Translation.

It is now 100 years since the publication of Walter Benjamin's essay 'The Translator's Task', considered one of the central texts of the 20th century on the translation issue. Based on their recent collaboration in the book Benjamin y la traducción (Ediciones del Subsuelo, 2024), philosopher Antonio Aguilera, sociologist Esperança Bielsa and translator Fruela Fernández discuss with Mattea Cussel the importance of this topic in Walter Benjamin's work and how the double task of interpreting and translating Benjamin contributes to illuminating our present.

This event is held in the framework of the research project 'Political Translation', co-organized with the Center for Studies on Culture, Politics and Society, the CCCB and with the collaboration of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
