The Varda Laboratory

Agnès Varda said there were three very important words in her profession: inspiration, creation and sharing. It is in this spirit that we open the Varda Laboratory, a space for meeting and creativity for all ages to extend the exhibition Agnès Varda. Photograph, Film, Recycle. The laboratory presents three participatory artistic installations, and a reading and rest area. Admission is free and it can be visited independently of the exhibition.

"Agnès’s Beach" Find your inner landscape through self-portraiture

This installation, designed by the artist Martina Rogers Manzano, invites you to play and dress up in props and costumes inspired by the imagination of Agnès Varda. Sit in her director’s chair and find your image reflected in the mirror, as though Varda herself were portraying you in her own inner landscape: the beach. Here, midway between documentary and fiction, like in Varda’s films, everything is open to the imagination.

"Postcard Mural" Send your postcard to Agnès Varda

Agnès Varda was a great traveller and used postcards as a means of communication throughout her life. She sent and received them from all over the world, painted and decorated like fabulous works of art. In this space for play and writing, designed by filmmaker Marina Siero, you can write a postcard to Agnès Varda and “send it to her” to the home-studio that the artist had at 88, rue Daguèrre in Paris. Together, we’ll create a collective mural of postcards for Varda.

"Varda Remix" Re-edit the films of Agnès Varda

Drac Màgic collective offers you the chance to play at filmmaker using the films of Agnès Varda. Using an editing desk, you can make your own film using excerpts from Verda’s films. You’ll discover the director’s iconographic universe and get an insight into editing: selecting, ordering, linking.
