Sunday in the Courtyard

The Rhythm of Persistence

Ignasi Julià and Josep Martín

Debate

Free with pre-booking

A conversation with the music critic Ignasi Julià and the journalist Josep Martín about the forthcoming international edition of the book Linger On The Velvet Underground.

Has listening to music in the era of compressed files, macrofestivals and social media chipped away its value? It’s easier than ever to access music from all over the world in every genre, but the information is also much faster paced and more fleeting. What role do critics play in such a breakneck cycle? Have musical tastemakers become obsolete, or does their work still make sense?

The music critic Ignasi Julià, founder of the historic magazine Ruta 66 and contributor to major newspapers across the Spanish state whose book Linger On The Velvet Underground will be released in an international edition this September, will talk with us about his career and the changes that have gone on in the music industry in a conversation with Josep Martín, host of the radio show Independents on iCat.
