John Frankenheimer
1966 / USA / Blu-ray / 106 min / OV (English) with Catalan subtitles
A dark, elegant, claustrophobic cult film directed by one of the leading names of US film in the sixties and seventies, John Frankenheimer (Birdman of Alcatraz). Desperate to escape his dreary life and break with its monotony, a nondescript banker allows a mysterious organisation to give him a new identity. After plastic surgery he becomes the painter Tony Wilson (in a masterful performance by Rock Hudson). Thus begins his new life among “reborns” in an idyllic world. But the situation soon begins to warp and acquire nightmarish overtones. A wild and delirious film, an absolute must.
*Not recommended for under-16s.
