Screening of the documentary "Stepping Softly on the Earth"

Three indigenous leaders of the Amazon are trying to keep alive their ways of being in the world. These are the stories of Kátia, chief of the Akrãtikatêjê people, Manoel, chief of the Munduruku people, and José Manuyama, a teacher of Kokama origin. The three narrate the threats to their territories from large-scale mining, monocultures, prospecting, oil exploration, logging and the construction of hydroelectric power plants. Their stories are intertwined with the voice and thoughts of indigenous philosopher Ailton Krenak, who invites us to reflect on our ways of inhabiting the planet and to learn to step softly on the earth.
