FEMINISMS!

Pretty Tired Faces

Community art project

Free

The installation “Pretty Tired Faces” is the result of a creative process that draws on embroidery as a traditionally female language, seeing it in a new light as an aesthetic resource that gives a voice and puts a face to invisible realities.

The creators of the exhibited textile portraits are a group of local women in Santa Coloma de Gramenet who form part of El Hilo del Casal, a space within the Casal dels Infants where these women—mothers, pillars of their families and keepers of textile tradition—share a space of conversation, mutual support and self-realisation by means of sewing. El Hilo del Casal is part of a service provided by the Casal dels Infants in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, which accompanies families in bringing up their children and socio-educational issues.
