Post-soviet documentary. Audrius Stonys

Audiovisuals

Audrius Stony, from Lithuania, is one of the best documentary makers of the post-soviet school. Admirer of Herzog, Mekas and Trakovski, his meditative cinema is a conspiracy against loneliness: "Films are a chance for finding people like you. There are many kinds of films, but most of them remind us of a conversation between two people". In Alone, a little girl goes to the prison to visit her mother; in his latest film, The Bell, the peal of a bell that has been sunk for centuries in a lake mysteriously echoes in the life of a little village. With the intention of finding it, a group of divers explore the lake.
