The day after Gaza

Debate

The writer and essayist Pankaj Mishra analyzes the political and moral consequences of the war in Gaza in connection with his latest publication, The World After Gaza. A History (published in Spanish by Galaxia Gutenberg, 2025).

Delving into the historical and geopolitical roots of the war in Gaza, Mishra reflects in The World After Gaza how two historical processes converge: the Holocaust, with the subsequent creation of the State of Israel, and decolonization, which has marked the recent history of the Global South. From these questions, Mishra builds a narrative around today's identity politics, the relativization of the value of human life and the political polarization around this war.

In this session Pankaj Mishra talks with writer and journalist Ben Ehrenreich about the world we will find after Gaza and the impact of this war in a markedly convulsive and uncertain global political context.
