Nancy Campbell speaks with Alicia Kopf

Thoughts from the Cold

Debate

In this session the poet and artist Nancy Campbell will speak with the writer Alicia Kopf about her fascination with the Arctic world on the occasion of the publication of her book The Library of Ice: Readings in a Cold Climate (published in Spanish as La Biblioteca del Hielo, Reflexiones desde el frío by Ático de los libros, 2020).

Nancy Campbell’s work explores, in fiction and poetry, climate change and its devastating consequences. She has been artist in residence in research institutes in the Arctic on several occasions and, drawing on this experience, has published an extensive body of work in which she reflects upon new ways of expressing our relationship with nature. In her most recent book, The Library of Ice: Readings in a Cold Climate, she presents, through a poetic gaze, a cultural history of ice and the landscapes of cold, which are now so threatened by the climate emergency.
