Suburbia

Museums' Day and Night 2024

Doors open to the exhibition "Suburbia", Poetry Slam and Anti-Gutter

Free

One more year the CCCB joins the celebration with an open day to the exhibition "Suburbia", a Potrey Slam and the Antti-Gutter. To visit the exhibition, advanced booking is required.

This year the International Museum Day and the Night of Museums coincide on the same date and to celebrate this double event the CCCB invites you to enjoy the exhibition “Suburbia”, also open at night, and a special session of Poetry Slam. In addition, throughout the day, the Pati de les Dones hosts the Anti-Gutter.

11.00 - 01.00 | Free admission to the exhibition “Suburbia”

A big house with a garden, a swimming pool and a couple of cars in the garage. A quiet, safe place to live as a family, close to nature in a people-friendly neighbourhood. This exhibition “Suburbia. Building the American Dream” traces the cultural history of a lifestyle ideal that has been endlessly reproduced on television, in advertising and in cinema, and analyses the validity and the most controversial aspects of its urban planning model.
Free admission with prior reservation (Exhibition / Guided tour 11.30)

11.00 - 22.00 | Anti-Gutter

The Pati de les Dones courtyard of the CCCB will become the stage for Anti-Gutter 2, the lead-up to Gutter Fest, the sound and graphic self-publishing and micro-publishing fair. Over 60 artists will be taking part with their own stand. There’ll be workshops and live music throughout the day.
Free admission

22.00 - 24.00 | Poetry Slam

To coincide with the Night of Museums, Poetry Slam Barcelona has programmed another session of “21st-century minstrels”, the spoken word poetry event that brings together winning slammers from previous competitions in a single slam. It features Julie Kent, Edgar Caride, Segundo Bouzón, Marçal Font, Salva Soler, Olza Olzeta, Isa García and Esteve Bosch de Jaureguízar. There will be a sign language interpreter service.
