AI: Artificial Intelligence

Mercedes Bunz and Joan Fontcuberta

A cultural revolution

Debate

Mercedes Bunz, researcher in the fields of digital culture, and the photographer Joan Fontcuberta will speak with Alex Saum about artificial intelligence and artistic creation.

Creativity is mutating. Now we have not only digital editing instruments like Photoshop and Word and tools of circulation like Amazon, social networks, and web pages, but we also have creative devices such as Dall-E, Midjourney, and GPT. How do they affect the arts and contemporary narratives? Two experts on the impact of AI in the realm of creation will explore the issues when answering this question. Mercedes Bunz, who specialises in digital society and culture at King’s College, London and co-founder of Creative AI Lab, a space for research into the incorporation of AI into artistic practices, will be speaking with Joan Fontcuberta, one of Catalonia’s most widely known post-photographers in the international domain and recognised for his work exploring and reflecting on the authenticity of images. The discussion will be led by Alex Saum, (digital) poet and associate professor of Contemporary Spanish Literature and New Media at the University of California, Berkeley.
