The city that never was
Imaginary architectures
Audiovisuals
Film cycle alongside the exhibition The city that never was.
The world of the cinema has often provided the ideal setting for the recreation of imaginary cities and architectures invented by their creators. The list of such films is a long one, leaving a multitude of fantastic urban landscapes in spectators' memories.
The six films in this cycle were selected with a view to demonstrating the extraordinary diversity of architectural spaces that film-directors of very different epochs have dreamt up. They are spaces in which the protagonists live their lives, where the most intimate of emotions and desires are unleashed.
On this occasion, we invite the public to take part in a Film Review Competition. Participants have to choose one of the six films and write a review according to the competition conditions which will be made available very soon. The jury will be made up of members of the Catalan Association of Film Crítics and Writers and the publication Dirigido por.... The winning review will be published in the magazine Dirigido por.... The winner will also receive a year's free subscription to the magazine, a free Friend of the CCCB card for a year and free admission throughout 2004 to all the sessions in the Xcentric cinema and video programme.
