Between the realism of the possible and practical utopianism, this is an exercise that confronts us with challenges related to food and the agenda to reach them, but also how we imagine and collectively respond to a future that is already underway.
Dream the Future is a series produced by About Premium Content and broadcast in Spain on Canal Odisea. It explores what our life will be like in 2050. It has twenty chapters on topics such as medicine, transport, oceans, fashion, housing, work, and so on.
In the chapter on agriculture that we project in this session, we see how new technologies will help farmers cope with the huge demand for agricultural products in the future: robots will support them in their daily tasks in a self-sufficient way, and farmers, with the help of drones and satellites, will be able to manage the land in a more accurate and sustainable way. Agriculture will also move towards the city with vertical farms where vegetables will grow close to consumers. The urban farmer will be able to access the soil even in the city centre. Another great challenge will be preserving the seeds. In 2050 millions of seeds will be stored in giant laboratories in order to protect the diversity of world agriculture.
Will it be like this? Following the screening there will be a debate, with the participation of expert professionals in the field, and we will be able to reflect and give our opinion on this vision of the future regarding agriculture.

Bio Director

The story of Alex Fighter, born Alexandre Chavouet, is a perfect illustration of the notion that nothing in life is impossible. The youngest-ever black belt in Karate at age 14, Alex became the world’s youngest sports author the following year, publishing two best sellers on the topic of martial arts. He then worked as an editor for sports publisher Chiron at age 17 before becoming the director, at age 20, of Independence Prod, a production company that would soon become a major player in the world of sports publications. A few years later, Alex joined the M6 television network where he soon advanced to program developer and TV show host. In 2011, he wrote and directed Gaga by Gaultier featuring Lady Gaga and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Passionate about technology, science and innovation of all kinds, Alex has spent the last two seasons developing the documentary series Dream the Future. Each episode of the series brings together internationally renowned scientists and engineers to present the innovations set to change our daily lives for the better by 2050.
