Cultures d'Avenir 2022

A European project for master students

Education

Centre Pompidou in Paris, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin and Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) are collaborating to create an international net that will enable 25 master students to enrich their artistic experience and reinforce their european bonds with the support from the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO).

The CCCB has invited eight art students from four Catalan universities in the framework of its Mediation program, a program that reinforces the links between culture and education, experiments with new formats and opens the CCCB to new voices, communities and generations.

For five months, 25 students of French, German and Catalan universities and art schools will develop a series of online creative projects through the artistic practice on the following themes: parity and gender, discrimination, the environmental emergency, and knowledge sharing and inclusion. Students from different disciplines, ranging from drama and dance to visual arts and architecture, will have the support of a wide group of international experts and mentors. Some of the questions they will reflect on are: How can we think and act across disciplines? How is it possible to bring together, think, share, and act?

The program has a hybrid format: Apart from discussion in the digital space, students will also be meeting physically in Paris in November 2021 and in Barcelona in March 2022, and will be holding a virtual workshop in January 2022 in a newly created digital environment.

The ultimate goal is for the students to further develop, modify or discard the ideas they bring with them, to gain new expertise, and to take their project experiences and results back to the universities. The various new networks should have a lasting effect to create a real European network.
