Debate

In this session, the anthropologist Yayo Herrero, a well-known figure in European and Latin American ecofeminism, will speak with Marta Tafalla, lecturer in Philosophy, on the occasion of the publication of the former’s most recent book Ecoanimal. Una estética plurisensorial, ecologista i animalista (Ecoanimal: An Animalist, Ecologist, and Multisensorial Aesthetic, Plaza y Valdés, 2019) in a conversation moderated by the journalist Pilar Sampietro.

With the ecological catastrophe that humanity must now face, an aesthetics of nature based on scientific knowledge, multisensorial perception, an ability to appreciate what is different from us, and from a critical standpoint, is more essential than ever. Yayo Herrero and Marta Tafalla will talk about the need to call for an ecologist and animalist aesthetics that will enable us to become reconciled with Earth and the creatures that inhabit it.
