Grec 2023

Cabosanroque and Marcos Morau

Putting imagination to the test

Debate + Scene

Free with pre-booking

This meeting of two of the most original creators on the Catalan artistic scene raises the curtain on the expanded theatre trilogy by Cabosanroque presented by the CCCB in the framework of the Grec Festival. The conversation will be conducted by the writer and theatre critic Andreu Gomila.

There is an element in Cabosanroque’s work that runs through each and every one of their creations: they challenge the imagination. They take someone else’s work, swallow it up and return it to their world digested, with the 21st century on top—a 21st century where nothing is quite true, where narcissism, the aspirational work of art and a certain disdain for fiction rule. The great artists of our time work with their own references and even know how to efface themselves to make way for Brossa, Verdaguer or Rodoreda.

Marcos Morau is not so different to Cabosanroque in terms of this challenging of the imagination that is his choreographic work. Today more than ever, the choreographer puts the references, concepts and doubts of this liquid, almost gaseous era of ours to the test.

Presenters: Andreu Gomila

Participants: Cabosanroque, La Veronal
