Baghdad, a City in the Throes of Death

The scene of serious civil confrontations, for years Baghdad has been at the centre of international news, yet there are no signs of a let-up in the wave of destruction and death overshadowing life in the city. Four years after the invasion with US troops in the forefront, the CCCB presents a debate about the Iraqi capital with a view to interpreting the keys to the present-day conflict, with the participation of two leading Iraqi experts. The debate forms part of the CCCB’s series of lectures about Middle Eastern cities, directed by Fred Halliday, which has been under way since 2005.
