James Holston

Associate professor of Anthropology at the University of California, San Diego.

Professor of Geography and Director of the Institute of Advanced Study, Durham University. His research has dealt with regional development and socio-economic inequality in Europe, the urban social economy, and the socio-political evolution of multicultural societies in Europe. Among his publications are: Placing the Social Economy (2002), Cities: Re-imagining the Urban (2002), Knowledge Practices in Firms: Competences and Communities (2004), The Blackwell Cultural Economy Reader (2005).
