Professor of European Thought at the London School of Economics.
(United Kingdom, 1948) is Professor of European Thought at the London School of Economics. A well-known philosopher and political scientist, he has taught at the universities of Essex and Oxford and has also been a visiting professor at Yale and Harvard universities. He is particularly interested in the notions of progress and modernity and has written several books on these themes. He writes regularly for such publications as The Guardian, New Statesman and The Times Literary Supplement.
