Françoise Vergès (1952), a political scientist, is consultant to the Centre for Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths College, University of London; director of the scientific and cultural programme of the Maison des civilisations et de l’unité réunionnaise; and president of the Comité pour la Mémoire et l’Histoire de l’Esclavage.
