The novelist as citizen

Lecture by Abraham B. Yehoshua

Together with Amos Oz and David Grossman, Abraham B. Yehoshua is one of Israel’s most widely recognised writers besides being outstanding among Jewish intellectuals for his commitment to the peace process in the Middle East. Far from seeing literature as a refuge from the permanent conflict between Jews and Palestinians, Yehoshua has felt the need to respond to this reality by means of his novels and plays and by his active participation in his country’s public life. In this lecture at the CCCB, Yehoshua will talk about the writer’s commitment to society.

Presented by Vicenç Villatoro, writer, journalist, politician and director of the Ramon Llull Institute.
