An interview with Chinese writer Gao Xingjian, who received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2000. The documentary was made for the exhibition the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona dedicated to him in 2004. Gao Xingjian offers the keys to understanding his novels, essays and theatre production, and delves into his own concept of "the real" and his relationship with painting and Taoist philosophy.
