Data Journalism. Work session (II)

Google Fusion Tables

The Data Journalism work sessions aim to be practical meetings with two main objectives: to learn and make inroads into working with data through workshops, and to raise awareness about local projects. At this session the Fuga2 case will be presented and we will learn to work with Google Fusion Tables.

4.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. // Practical case: Presentation of Fuga2 by Eli Vivas & Francisco José Moya.

Fuga2 is a collaborative and interactive map that analyses the brain drain in Spain and how the country’s body of researchers has been affected by the crisis and by cuts made in R&D. The project won second prize at the BBVA Foundation’s InnovaData data journalism awards this year.

5.15 p.m. to 7 p.m. // Google Fusion Tables Workshop run by Eduard Martin-Borregón of Data’n’Press.

Google Fusion Tables is a Google web service for data management, which provides a means for visualising data in different types of graphics and geographical maps.
