Animac at the CCCB

ANIMAC, the Catalonia International Animation Film Festival, is back at the CCCB to present the latest works included in its 19th iteration (19-22 February in Lleida). Its director, Carolina López, will be presenting the programme of these four days of screenings, talks, workshops and special sessions under the heading The Hand of the Artist.

Also in attendance will be the animation filmmakers Rocío Álvarez (nominated for the Cartoon d'Or for her graduation film Écart de Conduite), and Juan Pablo Etxeverri, the maker of stop-motion films like Dog Interface, Linko Killer Machine and Pablo en el Laberinto. They will be showing some of their works and talking about their respective creative techniques: traditional drawing, sand animation and stop-motion.

With her free lines and female viewpoint, this young filmmaker (the first Spanish woman to be nominated for a Cartoon d’Or prize) humorously relates the ordeal of taking your driving test.

Pablo en el Laberinto, Juan Pablo Etxeverri

It is difficult to make a film about the world of a great artist like Picasso, particularly when you’re using plasticine, but Etxeverri manages to create a very special atmosphere and bring the artist’s world to life, creating a work that is much more than just recreation.
