The Mahâbhârata

Mahâbhârata is the quintessential work of Indic tradition, perhaps. Transmitted orally for more than two thousand years, this epic corpus contains virtually all the known customs, legends and mythologies of ancient India. For centuries it has been recited and acted in temples, courts and countless festivals throughout the continent.

Òscar Pujol and Agustín Pániker talk about this magnum opus, highlighting the importance of the epic in Sanskrit literature, in Indic idiosyncrasy and culture, the deep significance it still possesses for millions of Indians, Thais and Indonesians, the clues to understanding its poetics and its parallels with other epics (The Iliad, Gilgamesh and The Ramayana).
