Giulia Sissa, philosopher and historian of the classical world, will give the inaugural lecture of the Seventh Barcelona Philosophical Seminar.

What is the nature of desire? What do drugs tell us about their ravening power? What yearning, what explorations of pleasure explain their use today? Giulia Sissa, philosopher and historian of the classical world, will consider these questions starting out from classical philosophy and psychoanalysis. Her lecture will open the Seventh Barcelona Philosophical Seminar, which is titled “The Value of Drugs: Substances of Contemporary Society” and jointly organised by the CCCB, the French Institute, and Arts Santa Mònica.
